I had an amazing time on this LuxorPrivateTour.! Our guide Ashraf was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. He was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and help us with anything we needed even beyond the tour date for our extended stay in Egypt. Mo was great to be around for the week and at times it felt like he was a friend or family member showing us around because of how personable he was. Thank you Mo for a great tour!

We booked a 4 night cruise Luxor-Aswan fairly last minute. We wanted a more luxury experience but since we were booking only a month out for Easter week with a semi-inflexible schedule, we had to make do. The Oberoi cruises and Sanctuary cruises were all sold out and I was starting to panic because we needed something but I didn’t want it to just be the leftovers. I felt a little out of my depth booking a luxury dahabiya (but would probably book that if (when) I ever came back).

After much research, I found the Farah. The pictures online looked solid, and I could book and pay directly online, and could see the boat availability. The dates were perfect. I was sold.

Overall, we had an amazing time. It’s not perfect, but I wasn’t really expecting Oberoi quality for the price- I knew what I was getting into. Still, I think it’s one of the best mid-high tier boats sailing right now.

The service was great and attentive. Everyone was very sweet. The deck was a highlight. We saw many a boat pass and I didn’t see one that looked like they had a better deck than ours. Lovely cushioned teak furniture in cabanas lined the deck with nice greenery. There was a nice pool and cushioned lounge chairs with beautiful golden lighting. Many boats I saw pass did not have any cushions on their chairs and looked rickety. The deck was an amazing place to hang out.

The rooms were well appointed, if a little small (but that’s to be expected on a boat like that). We had a sliding door that opened to the river, which was a nice bonus. Rooms were clean, and the maid service was exceptional, with great touches added every day. Two bottles of water are provided every day.

Our guide was fabulous. We didn’t really know what to expect and thought that we may be with a group of other English speakers, but it turns out that our guide was just for us. He was incredible and so so sweet. He was super knowledgeable but also let us have our alone time at every stop so that we could see stuff at our own pace after getting the gist of the history. It seems like guides on these boats are sort of picked randomly, and they don’t work for the boat, but are merely matched with one, so one may be unlucky with their guide.

The itinerary was also great. Although chalk full of earlier mornings (getting up around 6) the days were not too strenuous and perfectly paced. There was a great balance of sightseeing and lounging. Some itineraries have a lot of stuff packed in, but this one was pretty good.

We also had an issue with our flight being changed from 1pm to 6pm, and we didn’t know what to do during the day. They arranged a tour for us to Abu Simbel, which was great, complete with a packed breakfast and they even let us come back and eat lunch on the boat. We had a guide for that, but unfortunately he wasn’t that great. Nice, however only said 3 things about the site and was extremely hard to understand. After coming all that way, we were hoping for a bit more.

The food was solid. Nothing gourmet, but there was nothing to seriously complain about either. The best night was the BBQ night up on the deck. The Egyptian fare is more “mainstream” then anything, and we wished for more traditional food.

The overall breakfast and bar area were more of a contemporary vibe, which isn’t my first choice, but it was fine. We didn’t spend too much time there and mainly just hung out on the top deck. Entertainment was a bit touristy and cheesy, but I think that’s part of all of the boats’ itineraries.

Overall we were very happy with our experience for such a last minute, risky booking. It sure seemed like we were on one of the newer, nicer boats. I think the Farah Nile Cruise is a great choice.

in simple review, “Can’t fault these guys”, they not only how to do their job perfectly, but also love what they are doing. the amount of care and respect are really hard to captive in words. they looked after us even when we booked a private trip, they made an effort to ring us to make sure that we arrived safely and we don’t need any extra assistance. they are really best of the best
